POLICE are hunting a robber who is thought to have held up a petrol station at knifepoint.

Officers have been deployed to the scene at the in Sway Road, Brockenhurst, following the robbery this afternoon.

According to Hampshire police a man was reported to have come into the Esso garage brandishing a knife.

It is understood a quantity of cash was taken and the man fled, apparently on foot.

Searches are currently being conducted in the area following the raid just before 3pm.

The forecourt remained sealed off this afternoon with officers inside the shop speaking to staff.
