HUNDREDS of women who took part in Race for Life at Kingston Lacy this month are being urged to get their sponsorship in and help defeat cancer.
The formidable army of 800 mums, daughters, sisters, grans, aunts and friends kitted out in every shade of pink imaginable assembled on the East Dorset start line to confront cancer.
Organisers have issued a heart-felt thanks to everyone who took part and is calling on them to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible to fund vital research into 200 types of cancer.
Rachel Northover, Race for Life event manager, said: “We are so very grateful to all our participants, supporters and wonderful volunteers who helped make Race for Life at Kingston Lacy such an amazing event.
“Now the big day is over, we are asking everyone to take one last step – by returning the money they’ve raised so it can go into vital research to help more men, women and children survive cancer.” Every hour, more than three people are diagnosed with cancer in the South West but research is helping more people survive than ever before. Cancer Research UK is hoping the Kingston Lacy race participants will raise £35,000.
Rachel added: “Many people don’t realise that their entry fee only covers the cost of staging the event. It’s the sponsorship money that really makes a difference.” There is still time for people to enter the Bournemouth seafront race on Sunday June 16 and Poole Park on Sunday June 23.
