LEISURE bosses insist it will be ‘business as usual’ during the final stages of Purbeck Sports Centre’s refurbishment.
Work on the latest stage of the Wareham centre’s makeover, completing a series of improvements that have already taken place, will last until the summer.
The latest upgrade includes refurbishing the changing rooms, improving centre lighting, refurbishing the sports hall, squash court improvements and upgrading corridors and stairwells.
The work by Greendale Construction is scheduled to be completed by July 14.
Sports centre manager Terry Peterson, pictured, said: “This is the final stage of an intense series of improvements. Sports centre customers will be able to enjoy a new and refreshing experience in a welcoming environment.”
Local architects Morgan Caret were appointed to draw up the refurbishment plans.
Mr Peterson added: “We have carefully planned the work so that there will be minimal disruption.
“Throughout refurbishment it will be ‘business as usual’. Our customers will be able to enjoy all our normal facilities, although the sports hall, squash courts and health and beauty areas will close for the weeks commencing June 17 and 24.
“The onsite sports therapist will be offering a home visit service during the closure.
“We are extremely excited about the refurbishment and we are sure that the sports centre’s customers, new and old, will enjoy the new surroundings.”
