TRIBUTES have been flooding in to Rico Dardis, whose body was found floating in the sea at Christchurch on Monday.
Rico, 30, from Parkstone, was recovered from the water at Steamer Point, Friars Cliff on Monday night.
He had suffered injuries caused by the propeller of a boat.
Police have launched a major investigation and arrested two Bournemouth men aged 49 and 51 on suspicion of murder.
Yesterday, his devastated family issued a statement saying Rico's death had caused them “great distress” and they were grieving for the tragic loss of their son, brother and father.
Dozens of messages of condolence and tributes to the man with a “cheeky grin” were sent to the Echo by shocked friends and family.
Mary-Jayne Russell de Clifford said: “I knew him from a mainstream school in Poole at a very young age of 5 to 11 years.
“He was a wild, lively, crazy little boy with big hair.
“My heart and thoughts goes to his family and may his soul rest in peace.”
Christy Rotherham, a friend of Rico's since high school said he saw him recently on a visit to Bournemouth from Spain where he now lives.
He said he had been through a rough time but added: “Rico was a good friend to a lot of people and he had an amazing talent when it came to freestyle rap.
“He will be missed dearly.”
Mel and Lisa Reynolds said they knew Rico since he was about 18 years old.
“He used to be a regular face in the party scene in Bournemouth”, Mel said.
“He was a likable rogue and a good kid.
“Unfortunately as he got older he did associate himself with some undesirable people.
“It is a sad day and my wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to his family and other friends.”
The Echo's Facebook page was innundated with messages after Rico's name was released last night.
Joanna Healy said: “It's hard to believe I'll never see you again. Broke my heart when you lost your way, never ever thought that would be you.
“I was made up to see you looking well again and once again had that cheeky grin back on your face.”
Kelly Underwood said: “RIP Rico, you will always be remembered”, and Debs and Al sent a message saying, “RIP Rico. I shall miss your cheeky grin. No more suffering for you now lad.”
Sophie Pozzetti wrote on Facebook: “RIP Rico you were such a sweetheart. I'll always remember the conversations we had. Only saw you the other week, this is so sad. “Sleep in peace angel.”
Clare Brooker said: “RIP Rico you will be sadly missed. You were fun to be around at school.
“Thoughts are with the family.”
And Franny added: “A gem of a lad who tried to find a different lifestyle; so sad.
“RIP Rico. I'm sure you'll be in good company up there.”
