YOU would think having a Tourist Information Centre in a large resort is crucial. But Bournemouth council is set to close the office in Westover Road to save £50,000 a year.
And an alternative service could be provided in pop-up shops, temporary kiosks or in shop premises.
In the age of the internet it is quite easy to get all the information you need on Bournemouth and as long as the new service is housed in the town centre and tourists can find it easily, it might be a successful cost-cutting exercise. But if it isn’t, I’m sure holidaymakers will let them know.
