ACCORDING to new research by the Halifax, Sandbanks is the second most expensive town to buy property in England and Wales.
The average house price in Sandbanks now stands at £522,242.
The south Devon resort of Salcombe is top of the list with property costing an average of £570,000.
Across the UK the value of seaside homes has soared by 63 per cent over the past ten years with second home hunters helping to push prices up.
That is double the growth rate in the rest of the country, where average prices have increased by only 30 per cent, according to the high street bank.
There are now 14 seaside towns in England and Wales where the average cost is more than £300,000 – all of them in the South.
Lymington in the New Forest appeared seventh in the list with the average home costing £340,944.
