A man was mugged in Bournemouth town centre on Sunday night.

The victim, a 49-year-old man from Bournemouth, was struck on the head from behind by two offenders, which caused him to fall into some bushes.

His bag containing an HTC mobile phone, an iPod and his wallet containing cash was stolen.

Police are looking for anyone with information about the incident, which happened between 12.30am and 1am on Sunday June 2 under the flyover at Horseshoe Common.

He sustained a minor head injury and some scratches.

Detective Constable Siobhan Lovering, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack which was very distressing for the victim.

“The offenders are described as two men, one wearing a white T-shirt and the other, a check shirt and black trousers. Unfortunately a more thorough description is not available.

“I am keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident.”

No arrests have been made.
