DARING youngsters and adventurous adults flocked to a family thrill-seekers event at the weekend in Bournemouth.

The Family Adventure Festival at the BIC attracted young and old to the town with a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for adults and children, along with expert advice and amazing demos.

Split into four zones, each which contained a number of attractions and stands, the Adventure Hub had something for everyone including bikers, climbers, adventurers and representatives from many other sports.

The Animal Bike Tour display team wowed the crowds along with the chance to try out roller racing – a unique concept pitting two people head to head and against the clock.

People could also test their skills on the Big Air Biking attraction, which would allow visitors to go down a ramp and sail over a jump into a giant airbag.

There were climbing towers on offer and a mini ropes course as well as the Maverick Slackers crew’s tricks.

And those who wanted to indulge the hidden explorer in them, learnt how to build a den and light a fire.

The Go Wild zone featured one of the festival highlights, a 30m zipwire for those fearless types wanting to try something new.

Gail Collins, events, sales and marketing manager at the BIC and Pavilion said the event had been a resounding success.

“It was brilliant, we are all so pleased”, she said.

“It was the first event and it brought such a lot of people in – both locals and visitors.

“The Maverick Slackline people held their first competition in the UK under international rules here which was amazing.

“Everyone said it was great value for money and a lot of families spent three or four hours here.

“There really was something for everyone, from small children to adults.

“We’ve had a remarkable response and we hope to make the next one even bigger.”
