CHILDREN will be able to enjoy pony rides along Bournemouth beach this summer, in a new service offered by a local business.
Pony Palace, which is based at Adventure Wonderland in Parley, has branched out and will be providing rides along the sand during sunny days.
Three of their 30 ponies, Petal, Marley and Robbie have already been put to work on the beach and have proved an instant hit with youngsters.
Lynda Walsh, whose daughter Becky runs Pony Palace, said the business had proved popular at Adventure Wonderland, where they offer lessons, pony parties, fun days and pony club experiences.
They started taking their ponies to school fetes and festivals and then decided to apply to the council to see if they could offer rides on the beach.
She said: “We were delighted when the council agreed with the idea and it has really taken off, we’re really pleased.
“We were down the beach last weekend when it was sunny on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and it was quite popular, we are really pleased with the response.
“The ponies enjoy it and it gives many children who wouldn’t ordinarily have the chance to go riding, an experience to remember. It’s something a bit different for tourists and visitors.”
Rides cost £5 and the ponies will be on the beach, near Bournemouth Pier, whenever it is sunny.
