RUNNERS and families gathered for the first ever Bransgore Rotary Club fun run on Sunday.
The event took place from Bransgore Recreation Ground in the village near Christchurch and saw more than 150 runners limber up to take part in the event.
There were two races – a 10k and 5k – with proceeds going to the Honeypot children’s charity, Bransgore Community First Responders and Water Aid as well other charities.
Rotarian and organiser Alan Alford said: “This is the first one we have ever done and we hope to make it annual event.
“It all came about after our president said to me we have to organise a new fundraising event. So I thought a run was the perfect event.
“It’s a very good turnout for our first one as we didn’t want hundreds of people to deal with on the very first event.
“We will expand it over time I hope. People have come from all over to take part which is lovely.”
The route went through the country lanes, around Neacroft and Waterditch.
There was entertainment at the start as well as charity stalls at the start and finish point. Last month, Bransgore Rotary Club raised a record-breaking £4,000 for Rotary charities.
The fun day at the recreation ground attracted more than 4,000 people with activities for the whole community to enjoy, including stalls and entertainment from Bournemouth Carnival Band.
The club meets on Mondays at The Carpenters Arms in Bransgore. Contact 01425 672295 for more information.
