THE man charged with causing the death of Clive Wilcox in Bournemouth 12 years ago appeared in court this morning.
Daniel Scott, 33, formerly of Bournemouth, is accused of the manslaughter of the 42-year-old in Wimborne Road, Winton, on Friday May 4, 2001.
The father-of-two was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital following an incident outside the then One Stop shop. He died the following day.
Clive, a lift engineer from Moordown, had been out for a drink with his wife, Angie, and two friends when the incident happened.
Scott appeared at Winchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
The court heard he faces two charges – manslaughter and also one count of possessing a fake passport at St Pancras International Station on June 13 this year.
Prosecutor Nicola Reece told Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court at a previous hearing that Scott had been missing for 12 years as he had left the country following the incident.
She said he had used the fake passport on his return.
Scott was remanded in custody and told he will next appear back at Winchester Crown Court on September 6 for a plea and case management hearing.
