ARSONISTS set fire to an area of land next to a play area, firefighters said.
A Dorset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said worried residents in West Howe in Bournemouth made calls after they saw flames and smoke off Tedder Road and Moorside Road on Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the burning gorse before it spread to nearby homes and the police also attended as it was found to have been started deliberately.
A fire service spokesman said: “At 3.41pm the brigade received six calls from worried residents who could see smoke and flames.
“It was a deliberate fire and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service is clamping down on anti social behaviour.
“It’s something we are committed to reducing.”
He said Dorset Police are investigating.
