A DANCE group with a difference has been brought back to life thanks to a cash boost.
The Christchurch A Dance A Day class, held on Tuesdays at the Priory Hall in Princess Avenue, was given funding for one year, which ran out last October.
However, donations from the Santander Foundation and the Dorset Community Foundation mean classes can be held again.
A Dance A Day, which is run by Activate Performing Arts, welcomes people over the age of 50 to weekly classes.
Participants develop their dance technique skills, as well as improvising and choreographing new dances.
They also learn dance-based exercises for day-to-day life, including stretches while opening the curtains and balancing while washing up. The project was set up to create performances for the Maritime Mix Cultural Olympiad by the Sea, part of the London 2102 Olympics.
Rosalind Conlon, dance producer for the group, said: “It’s great news for everyone. “We want to keep the fees for each class low so that it’s accessible for people, and that means that our funding is so important to us.”
