A BIKE ride organised in memory of a soldier killed in a crash in 2011 enjoyed its highest turnout yet this weekend.
Nearly 50 people joined the event, with 20 and 40 mile rides around the Isle of Purbeck, leaving Purbeck School at 11am and ending at Wareham Quay, which raises funds for Help for Heroes and Wareham’s Sandmartin’s Activity Club.
Royal Artillery Commando Warren Jackson died in a motorbike crash on the A31, aged 43.
The father-of-two was a committee member at the Sandmartin’s club, which his children attended.
Organiser Keith Cranfield said: “We were delighted with the turn out, and it was a fun day, although a bit windy.
“This is the third year we have done this now and as it is getting more popular we are looking forward to holding the ride again next year.
“These two causes were both very important to Jacko and we think of this event as a legacy for him.”
