DRIVERS heading into Bournemouth faced seven mile tailbacks last night after a Mercedes left the road and rolled.

An ambulance and two fire engines attended the collision, which happened at around 5.30pm, and one lane was closed while the driver was rescued.

Hampshire Police received multiple reports of the crash, which happened at Bratley Arch, near Stoney Cross, on the westbound carriageway.

The male driver of the Mercedes received minor injuries.

One passer-by said the driver was "extremely lucky" not to have sustained more serious injuries. Traffic was queuing back to junction two of the M27.
