A FLASHER who targeted lone women just minutes away from his home in Poole was caught after his first victim took a photograph of him weeks later.

Brett Malyon, 43, of Chester Road, Poole, blamed the stresses of work and home life for exposing himself to four women in the Branksome Chine Walk area in the summer of 2012.

He was caught by police after the first person he flashed saw him out some weeks later and took a picture.

Judge Peter Johnson sentenced Malyon to a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, and a three-month curfew, at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday. He praised the “spirit and presence of mind” of the first victim, telling Malyon: “In my view, you have shown no true remorse whatsoever.”

Malyon, who was supported by his wife at the sentencing, pleaded not guilty to the charges, claiming he had been adjusting himself while running, but a jury unanimously found him guilty following a three-day trial in April.

Judge Johnson said: “The indictment makes it abundantly clear that you intended those ladies to see your genitals and that they should be caused alarm or distress.”

One of his victims, who lives in Poole, has spoken of her ordeal at having to face Malyon again in the witness stand.

The woman, who does not want to be named, said: “He has denied it all the way through.

“His defence was first that it was mistaken identity, and then that his shorts were chafing while he was jogging.”

Malyon, a member of Westbourne Running Club, flashed all four women within days of each other a short walk away from his home.

The woman said: “I was out at about 5.30pm and I looked up and he was running towards me.

“He was fully exposed. I was completely on my own, and I was absolutely terrified. It was horrible.”
