FERNDOWN boxer Iain Weaver - fighting under new management in America - is tonight poised to make his second professional appearance.
Weaver, who registered a debut win in the paid ranks over super featherweight rival Damian Lawniczak in London in April, has been training in the US since signing with Gary Hyde.
The former amateur star is scheduled to take on 32-year-old opponent Karihi Tehei on American soil after honing his skills alongside some illustrious names, including legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
Weaver's father Jay told the Daily Echo: “Gary Hyde signed Iain and flew him out to Los Angeles for training for nine weeks. He has had some very good sparring in the Wild Card gym with Freddie Roach.”
Weaver junior endured a long wait for his pro debut after the British Boxing Board of Control rejected his application for a British licence after a brain scan showed a cyst.
Jay Weaver confirmed there were ongoing legal proceedings surrounding his son's continued bid for a British licence.
