A DORSET disability charity is hosting a recruitment day after deciding to expand its Supported Living service.
Diverse Abilities Plus has made the move in response to increasing demand for support workers to help adults with disabilities to either live in their own homes or attend a day care centre.
The recruitment day takes place at the charity’s head office near Tower Park in Poole from 4pm to 9pm on Monday July 22.
Some 35 adults are already supported by the scheme, which means adults can either live independently, choosing what how to spend their day, what colour they want their rooms and much more, or learn near skills at the day care centre.
Mark Powell, chief executive of Diverse Abilities Plus, said: “Those we support often require one-to-one support up to 24/7 and we urgently need to recruit to offer our service to more adults with disabilities.”
Caroline Amey has lived in her specially adapted bungalow since 2005.
She said: “I used to live in a big care home with lots of other people and I only had a small room there. Now, I have a whole house and a garden. I can now choose what I want to do and when I do it.”
The recruitment day takes place at Unit C, Acorn Business Park, Ling Road, Poole.
