PEOPLE living in Poole suffered a major power cut on Saturday afternoon with around 2,000 homes affected.
The incident, caused by a small fire at the base of an electricity pylon in Upton, affected around 2,000 households in Corfe Mullen, Lytchett Matravers and Broadstone initially.
The fire was caused by a damaged cable.
Power supply to the majority of the houses was restored shortly after the fire with around 100 in Broadstone back on by 8.15pm using generators.
Engineers have been working at the site all weekend to fix the problem.
Earlier on Saturday around 30 households in Wareham suffered a power cut due to problems with an overhead cable.
A spokesperson for Southern Electric said they sent an engineer to deal with the problems but they had been delayed by traffic around the area. Power was restored around 4.20pm on Saturday afternoon.
