THOUSANDS of people took to the beach at Sandbanks over the weekend to enjoy what the Asahi British Beach Polo Championships had to offer.
The sun continued to shine over revellers at the two-day event, as some of the finest polo players from across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland took to the sand in Poole.
Joining them were a host of celebrities including Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud, Oliver Proudlock from Channel 4’s hit show, Made In Chelsea, and actress, comedian and impressionist, Debra Stephenson.
Organiser, Johnny Wheeler, said: “The whole event has gone really, really well.
“We had thousands of people come along to watch the beach polo and also lots of boats moor up in the harbour.”
He added: “The after-party on both nights was really good and it was a fantastic crowd of people who came along, both polo enthusiasts and those who wanted to see some of their favourite DJs play.
“The event is really inclusive and one of the things that I love about it is the fact that it encompasses mixed generations, so you see OAPs enjoying the same thing as children during the day.
“We have already scheduled with the Borough of Poole council the 2014 event, and are now also looking ahead to 2015.”
The Asahi British Beach Polo Championship’s chosen charity for this year was Variety, the Children’s Charity, which aims to increase positive experiences for children and young people in the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged.
