ANDY Murray’s Wimbledon victory will have inspired countless people to take to their local tennis courts.
But Poole Park has had trouble catering for the sudden resurgence of interest in the sport.
The surface of its tennis courts – recently refurbished at a cost of £140,000 – takes time to settle, and the heat has kept them closed for 11-and-a-half days since June 20.
It’s a bit embarrassing for the Borough of Poole.
Still, a British Wimbledon winner and a hot British summer. Who could have predicted both of those?
