POOLE’S Summer Breeze is about to come back with a bang.
Fireworks with a difference will be lighting up Poole Quay for the start of Summer Breeze on July 25.
The free family event, sponsored by Tower Park based motor dealership Breeze Volkswagen, is part of Poole’s Wave 105 Summertime in the South, delivering a feast of live music, street entertainment and a rainbow of fireworks to Poole Quay for six Thursday evenings.
As part of a new trial, the fireworks at 10pm will include special lighting, adding an extra dimension to the popular display.
Cllr Judy Butt, cabinet portfolio holder responsible for tourism said: “We’ve been working hard with the firework company to introduce some exciting new elements to the event.
“Whilst it won’t be a massive Jean Michel Jarre style laser show, it will add a new twist and dimension to the fireworks and we really hope people enjoy it.”
Summer Breeze launches on July 25 with a celebration of cycling including the chance to test the latest bikes, trick cycles and crazy bikes, pick up equipment at cycle stalls or take part in the Bling your Bike competition.
From 8pm there will be breathtaking aerobatics to enjoy from the Animal Mountain Bike Display Team outside the Thistle Hotel.
Budding performers can brush up their circus skills at Jamie Jigsaw’s Circus Workshop, enjoy comedy and unicycling with street artists, learn belly dancing with local dance group Belly Fusion and enjoy music from the Lions Youth Brass Band and the Usual Suspects.
Bruce Grant-Braham, chairman of Poole Tourism Partnership, said: Without the support of Breeze Volkswagen and the businesses on Poole Quay, we would not be able to provide fantastic free family events.”
