A dentist from Westbourne will be rooting for Real Madrid at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday – with good reason.
Her cousin is the Spanish giants’ goalkeeper.
Julia Casillas, 44, is showing her support for relative Iker, even though he is unlikely to play.
Julia, who lives with her husband, Simon Taylor, a pilot for Thomson Airways, will be heading back to the town where her parents and Iker’s live in Navalacruz, Spain, as opposed to attending the match at Dean Court.
She says that Iker, her third cousin, has kept strong links with the town where they are from.
Julia, who works at Alder Road Dental Practice, said: “I used to see him in the little village, Navalacruz, and I would speak to his parents sometimes.
“He is my cousin and I am very proud of him.
“It is quite exciting to have his team here in Bournemouth and my father says that people in Navalacruz are aware of the match against Bournemouth, so I will be supporting Real Madrid on Sunday.”
Other players from the world-renowned team reported to be making an appearance at the game on Sunday include Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Özil and Kaka.
Casillas is unlikely to play because he took part in the recent Confederations Cup.
