A TRAFFIC light at a major crossing was still at a 45-degree angle yesterday after a collision that took place on Wednesday evening.
The accident happened at Bournemouth’s Cooper Dean roundabout at around 9pm.
One side of the lights had been taped together to prevent pedestrians using the crossing but the lights on the other side had not.
Ken Fanner, 45, from Townsend regularly uses the crossing when he rides his bicycle to Littledown gym.
He said: “I couldn’t believe it when I went past the next day and saw that nothing had been done.
“I had to shout at one driver who only just missed my bike because he drove through the lights when it was red.”
“I’m disgusted that there are no signs saying ‘do not cross’. School children come across there.”
Councillor Michael Filer, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “The safety of our residents is paramount, which is why we had a contractor come out and fix the traffic lights as soon as it was possible to do so. Immediately after the accident we ensured the broken light had been taped up to avoid people using the crossing. I am glad to say that it is now working again and safe for members of the public and school children to use as a crossing.”
