IT’S set to get even brighter when Swanage indie darlings Saturday Sun play Sixty Million Postcards tomorrow evening.
Band members Alex Hedley, Bill Merrick, Alec Harrison and Luke Kill have had a busy year with several high profile gigs.
Last year their single Seagull was chosen to appear in the American horror movie, House at the End of the Street. The movie starred Elizabeth Shue from 80s classics such as The Karate Kid, Back To The Future II and Cocktail.
Tipped by everyone from Music Week Magazine to BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson as a band to watch in 2013, Saturday Sun create a mesmerising and powerful sound from their base in an abandoned grammar school in Swanage.
Saturday Sun have hints of Americana, folk, rock, blues, even grunge influences all melted into a unique sound.
Although they draw inspiration from classic artists like John Martin, Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley, their sound is absolutely original and contemporary. Tomorrow night will also see slots from bands Hazey & The J’s and Blackwater.
