TWO Cherries fans will have a “Real” good time celebrating their wedding anniversary at the stadium where they held their wedding reception.

Bournemouth’s prestigious friendly match against Real Madrid comes eight years to the day that David and Nicola Holland tied the knot at the football ground and they have bagged a pair of tickets to sit in the new South Stand to celebrate.

“It means a real lot to us to be going,” said Nicola, 44.

“As soon as we found out about the Real Madrid game I said ‘we’ve got to go’.

“It will be really special.”

The Southbourne couple, who met after a match three-and-a-half years before their 2005 wedding, were the first couple to hold their reception at the ground.

Instead of having a traditional white wedding they both wore the club’s red and black colours.

They borrowed a red Ferrari covered in red and black ribbons and Nicola’s children Robbie and Emma presented the rings on an AFC Bournemouth cushion.

And Nicola’s father, the then matchday announcer Geoff Barker, was the disc jockey at the reception.

The couple missed out on the first round of available tickets as they were working so they were relieved when more became available for the new stand.

They normally sit in the North Stand but will be sitting in the middle in the back row of the new stand for the friendly match after having a drink in the Legends bar.

David, 48, said: “I’m really pleased as we had to get tickets somehow. We’re chuffed to see them play on such a special day for us.”

A Bournemouth council officer is due to visit the Goldsands Stadium today to give the go-ahead to use the new South Stand and a council spokesman said it is anticipated there will be no problem issuing a safety certificate.
