BOURNEMOUTH’S biggest private landlord is warning all its tenants to be on their guard about bogus callers asking for cash.
DWP Housing Partnership said the callers claim to be maintenance staff and demand payment for work they claim to have carried out, or are trying to sell items.
The partnership is reminding its 3,000 tenants in and around Bournemouth that all its staff wear distinctive DWP Housing Partnership uniforms and photo identity badges.
The bogus callers have so far been targeting homes in Charminster and Boscombe and the company has been working with police over the problem.
Steve Wells, from DWP Housing Partnership, said: “We’ve had several reports of bogus callers asking tenants for money.
“Anyone from DWP Housing Partnership will be wearing uniform and carrying photo identification. If any of our tenants are in doubt about a caller we’d ask them to call us or contact the police.”
