A MAN critically injured in a horrific car crash on the A31 earlier this month is still in a life-threatening condition.
The pensioner, who was injured in a head-on smash between his silver Citroen three-wheel convertible and a Daihatsu Hijet camper van near Stag Gate, was airlifted to the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital straight away.
He remains in a medically-induced coma, but his wife was discharged from Poole Hospital shortly after the crash, which took place on Tuesday, July 9.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said the man’s condition is likely to remain the same for at least another week. Dorset Fire and Rescue were called to release the couple trapped in the Citroen, but the severity of their injuries meant it took around half-an-hour to safely remove them.
The second couple were taken to Poole Hospital after their campervan rolled during the collision.
