A MAN has denied failing to stop at the scene of a road accident in which a cyclist sustained “life-changing injuries”.
Adrian George, 38, of Avon Court, Owls Road, Bournemouth, appeared before Bournemouth Magistrates’ yesterday.
He is accused of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report the collision.
Gemma White, prosecuting, said the charges relate to an accident on the A338 Wessex Way at the Cooper Dean flyover on April 27 this year.
“This is a road traffic accident where the complainant, Miss Sarah Faulkner, was knocked off her bike. The crown submits Mr George left her on the dual carriageway having struck her with his Renault Master van. She received certainly life-changing injuries,” she said.
George pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on unconditional bail until his trial, which is set to take place at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on October 15.
Police launched an investigation after 36-year-old Miss Faulkner was found with serious injuries on the northbound carriageway of the Wessex Way.
The accident happened at around 7.45am and police closed the busy dual carriageway on the day of the accident and for a short time the following day for crime scene examiners.
