HEATHLANDS Primary School in Bournemouth is celebrating after all its Standard Assessment Tests (SATS) results WENT up for the third year running.
In both Key Stage One results for seven-year-olds and Key Stage Two for 11-year-olds the figures show that academic standards are continuing to rise.
Most children are now reaching the expected levels in reading, writing and maths for their age group.
For Key Stage One 82.6 per cent have reached the national standard of level two in reading – this compares to 79 per cent last year and 63 per cent in 2011.
And it’s a similar story for writing and maths – with 91.3 per cent and 95.7 per cent reaching the national standard.
Writing results in particular saw a huge increase on the previous two years, with this year’s 91.3 per cent comparing to 70 per cent last year and 52 per cent in 2011.
The school’s 11 year-olds have seen success as well, with increases across the board.
In reading 78 per cent reached the expected level 4 for their age group, compared to 71 per cent last year.
For maths 87 per cent achieved level four and 78 per cent in writing – compared to 77 per cent and 74 per cent respectively last year.
Headteacher Sarah Dunn praised the hard work of students and teaching staff.
She said: “We are delighted to see the hard work and dedication of all our students and teachers pay off.
“These results show just how much effort everyone at the school has put into improving academic standards over the last few years.
“As a school in one of the region’s most deprived areas we are incredibly proud of the considerable progress children make during their time here - many are below national standards when they start school and their attainment goes up remarkably during their time here.”
