NEW Forest organisations have met to discuss cycling issues in the New Forest.
Coordinated by the New Forest National Park Authority, the meeting to discuss management of cycling in the New Forest was ‘very positive’.
The group aims to help ensure cycle events are enjoyable and safe for participants, beneficial to the New Forest economy and welcomed by local communities.
The group’s first task was to discuss what changes should be made to the draft ‘cycling code of conduct’ that is currently advertised as guidance on the National Park Authority’s website.
Nigel Matthews, community and visitor services manager at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: “The task of agreeing the revisions to the code of conduct, and of agreeing how organisations can work together to gain wide scale acceptance of the advice and best practice recommendations will take some time, but it was good to see such a positive tone at this first meeting.”
