A POOLE woman wants to find a new home for her collection of Royal scrapbooks following the birth of the new Prince of Cambridge.
Sonia Norgan, who celebrated her 79th birthday on the same day of the Royal birth of Catherine and Prince William’s baby on Monday, has accrued a collection of newspaper clippings, dating back almost seven decades, which she now wants to pass on.
She is hoping to find a museum, school or community group able to use the books to help educate younger people on the history of the Royal Family.
The ardent monarchist, who lives in Branksome, does not want to hand the collection over to anyone interested in financial gain.
“I’ve recently moved house and I found these scrapbooks full of newspaper clippings, which have built up over the years,” she explained.
“I think I became a Royalist when I was about 10 years old, and because you couldn’t buy books about the Royal Family, you had to make your own.
“In view of my age, and the relevance at the moment, with the Royal baby, I saw some children on the news on TV who were learning about the Royal Family in at school, and thought that maybe these books could help.
“It is quite a large collection, but I think that I have chosen the right time to pass them on to someone who could benefit more from them, as I just keep them in storage boxes now.”
