POLICE are appealing for help to find a driver who failed to stop after a collision involving a cyclist in Southbourne.

The victim, a 49-year-old Christchurch man, was cycling along Belle Vue Road when he was in collision with a black Peugeot saloon car.

The vehicle failed to stop and drove off without checking on his welfare.

The victim suffered a minor injury to his left knee but did not require hospital treatment.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Thursday, July 25.

Police Constable Dave Cotterill, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Dorset Police urgently.

“The offending vehicle drove off in the direction of Christchurch after the collision, which happened during rush hour.

“I am confident that someone will have seen what happened, or may have details regarding the car involved.

“The driver will undoubtedly be aware they struck the rider and drove off without any regard for his welfare, and I would urge them to do the right thing and speak with the police.

“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
