Camp Bestival

A weekend of fun and frolics is promised at this year’s Camp Bestival, taking place at Lulworth Castle from August 1 to 4.

Pop stars such as Mark Owen, Labrinth, Levellers, and The Proclaimers join Horrible Histories, Mr Tumble, Dick n Dom and Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo at the event. Adult day tickets are £60 per day, age 15-17 day tickets are £35 per day, age 11-14 day tickets are £30 per day and age 10 and under day tickets are free (but you must obtain a ticket), available in person from Lulworth Castle and Lulworth Heritage centre, as well as through the usual Camp Bestival ticket agents. Joe Pasquale

Since his unique performances on Dancing On Ice, Joe has hung up his skates and gone back to what he does best – comedy. He is returning to the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth on August 26 where the audience can watch him pirouette through puns, leap through laughs and slide into songs.

Supper Club

Glyndbourne Live: Don Pasquale

Don Pasquale is the 64th of Donizetti’s 66 operas, and was written only a year before the onset of the syphilis-induced dementia that was eventually to overwhelm him.

Danielle de Niese, who is acknowledged as one of the world’s most talented and charismatic artists and has been described as “the world’s coolest soprano” by the New York Times, performs the role of Norina.The performance will be shown live by satellite at Lighthouse, Poole, on August 6. Stomp

Multi-award winning show Stomp is one of this summer’s showstoppers, appearing at Bournemouth Pavilion from August 6 to 10. Celebrating its tenth year in London, the show combines a universal language of rhythm, theatre, comedy and dance.

Eight performers use a variety of everyday objects – from dustbin lids to water bottles, Zippo lighters, plastic bags and even the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel good rhythm.

Summer exhibition

Dorset-based contemporary gallery Artwave West is running a Summer Exhibition until August 31, showcasing a group of ten artists. The gallery specialises in exhibiting artists who explore the discourse between abstraction and figuration and featured artists will be Claire Wiltsher, known for her emotive landscape paintings.

The Searchers
