BURGLARIES in homes and non-dwelling premises in Dorset have fallen, according to latest statistics.
Dwelling raids have fallen by 12 per cent with burglaries in commercial premises, sheds and garages down by 10 per cent.
People are being urged to keep premises secure over the summer months to ensure the downward trend continues.
Detective Inspector Richard Dixey of Dorset Police said: “It’s great to see both commercial and dwelling burglaries are falling. It has been a priority for the force this year and the public have been listening to our advice.
“We are not complacent though and are working hard to reduce incidents even further. I’d urge business owners and householders to take every step to keep their premises and homes secure.”
Doors and windows should be closed in warm weather and those going on holiday should ask friends and family to keep an eye on their homes.
