CUSTOMERS gave chase after a man attempted to steal cash from a till at a garden centre today.
The drama unfolded near the front of the store on Wednesday lunchtime after the man is said to have walked up to the till, opened it and grabbed a handful of money.
However he was spotted by a member of staff who then approached him and managed to wrestle the money from him before he ran off – chased by customers who were alerted to what had happened.
Police were called to the scene at Otter Nurseries in Milford Road, Lymington, and flooded the local area in a bid to find the would-be thief at 12.45pm.
They say it’s not thought to be the first time the same man has attempted to take money and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and he was wearing a white hat, light-coloured jacket and jeans.
He is thought to be aged in his late 20s or early 30s.
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Nicola Marks at Lymington police station on 101
