THE search is on to find Dorset’s very own unsung heroes.
From those individuals who make a difference to the community, a very special teacher or someone who has gone above and beyond for charity – residents are being urged to get their nominations in for Heart FM’s Dorset Hall of Fame Awards.
This is the second Dorset Hall of Fame awards event and last year five people were inducted, including Emer Kelly – a mental health worker at Kings Park Hospital in Bournemouth.
She was shocked to receive the award and said: “Mental health work doesn’t normally get recognised in this way, so this is an honour for me and everyone working in mental health in Dorset.”
The 2013 awards night will take place on October 10 at the Pavilion Ballroom, off Westover Road, where five extraordinary people who make the county better, or make a difference to where we live, will be recognised.
Nominations close on August 18. There are no categories or criteria to qualify for consideration, they just have to be extraordinary individuals who live and breathe the county.
Laura Richards, from Teachers Building Society, said: “We are excited to be involved in an award open to everyone in the county.
“We encourage people to nominate worthy contenders to celebrate the wonderful things being done by the people of Dorset for the people of Dorset.”
