TWO men had a miracle escape when an 80 ft fir tree fell onto their car.
The two men were in a Ford Fiesta travelling on Western Road towards The Avenue in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth when fellow motorists heard a cracking sound and the huge tree came down, covering most of the car.
A Dorset Police spokesman said they were unhurt and Bournemouth council were called to clear the road after the tree fell during rush-hour.
But motorists soon reported long queues coming from the beach at Alum Chine.
David Willitts was on his way home and said as Western Road was shut by police at The Avenue and at the roundabout at Alumhurst Road motorists added to the traffic towards Seamoor Road in Westbourne and at the roundabout at LV=.
