POOLE’S RNLI lifeboat crew managed to grab a few hours sleep ahead of today’s open day, after taking part in a rescue operation in the early hours.
The all weather lifeboat launched to assist a 34ft yacht after it suffered power failure a mile east of the Poole Bar Buoy.
The skipper radioed for help around 2.20am this morning and reported two of the three people on board and two dogs were feeling unwell.
After checking those on board the lifeboat towed the stricken vessel back to Poole Quay Boat Haven.
The lifeboat returned to station shortly before 4am.
Poole Lifeboat RNLI station opens its doors to the public today, from 11am until 5pm.
Anyone is welcome to pop along.
