A CHRISTCHURCH-based company has folded with the loss of 119 jobs nationally.
Mostyns Curtains Limited, which had been trading since 1950, went into administration last month.
Although the company was restructured in September 2012, a statement on the its website says: “The difficulties have sadly proved insurmountable.”
85 staff at the company's 27 outlets were made redundant first, and 34 further redundancies were then made at the business was wound down. A small team have stayed on to fulfil remaining outstanding orders.
Some customers are yet to recieve their goods but are assured that their money is safe and "will only be released into the company’s general funds when customers have received their order."
The company was also placed into administration last September, when it employed 128 staff in 35 retail outlets.
“Difficult trading conditions” and issues over property leases were blamed.
It was then sold to WCDI Ltd, which meant many were able to keep their jobs at that point.
Mostyns Curtains Limited said customers’ existing orders would be fulfilled in the majority of cases.
Steve Adshead and Greg Palfrey of Smith & Williamson were appointed as joint administrators in mid-July. A spokesperson for the company said: "The administrators are in touch with staff to explain how they can make claims from the Redundancy Service and are supporting people in making their claims."
