THOUSANDS of people are descending on Ringwood today for the annual Ellingham Show.
The traditional country show, staged by Ellingham and Ringwood Agricultural Society, is held on the beautiful Somerley Park Estate on the banks of the River Avon.
There are reports of heavy traffic on the A31 and A338 as people head to the site.
Organisers are hoping to follow-on from last year's success, which saw the highest attendance for 64 years.
It promises to offer a fun-filled family day out with a wide range of events taking place in the main ring all day, starting with the traditional heavy horse classes.
There are also dog events, a sheep dog display, decorated harness class, fancy dress parade and scarecrow competitions.
Other show attractions include horticultural classes, craft tents, masses of trade stands, music from a brass band, wide range of refreshment stalls, and farmers’ market.
There is plenty for the children to do with animal petting farms, bouncy castles and other traditional games.
The Daily Echo will also be there selling copies of the paper and giving away free goodies.
The show will also raise funds for a selection of local and national charities and beneficiaries.
Show spokesman Michael Lingham-Willgoss said: “It's a show you always look forward to and always think back to.
“It’s got everything you could possibly imagine.”
Gates opened at 8am and the show will finish around 5.30pm or 6pm.
Adult tickets are £10, and children are free £7 concessions.
Car parking is free on-site.
