A CONVOY of heart-covered taxis carried deserving children and their families to Adventure Wonderland in Hurn yesterday for a very special fun-filled day out.
Heart FM team-up with United Taxis, Bournemouth Children’s Services and the adventure park to treat the 100 youngsters for the station’s annual Big Summer Tea Party.
Twenty-five cabs from United Taxis picked up the young people and their families from areas around Bournemouth and drove them to the Littledown centre to collect Heart FM flags and sweets before making their way to the park.
There they were greeted at the park by Heart presenters Zoe Hanson and Dan Mills before spending the afternoon inside and enjoying a tasty tea party.
Heart Breakfast’s Zoe Hanson said: “It’s a privilege for Heart to team up with local businesses to give these deserving children a great day out, and for me to be part of it all.
“We hope the children and their families enjoyed their day out.”
Heart angel coordinator Emily Smith added: “This is the second year we have held the Big Summer Tea Party and it’s the biggest one yet.”
Jean Haslett, of Bournemouth children’s services, said: “Following on from the success of last year’s Wonderland event we are delighted that Heart FM and United Taxis have joined forces again to give the children and young carers of Bournemouth a fantastic day out.”
And United Taxis director Derek Heritage: “We transport many children to and from school and jumped at the chance to give a little back, with many of our drivers giving up their day off to make sure everyone gets to the party on time.”
Miles Marshall, marketing manager at Adventure Wonderland, said: “We’ve always been about family, fun and entertainment so are only too pleased to link up with heart and United Taxis to give local children a great day out, including a fabulous summer tea party attended by Alice and The Mad Hatter.”
