AWARD-winning author Guy Bass gave fun-filled performances at two Ringwood venues, fresh from showcasing his popular spoken word show at Camp Bestival.
The children’s author and Blue Peter Book Award winner shared silly stories and read from some of his most popular books including the Stitch Head series.
Paperview Stores in Ringwood organised the events which saw the talented entertainer performing animated readings at the bookshop and Seven Fish restaurant. Around 50 bookworms of all ages turned at both events up to hear him spill the beans on what it’s like to be a children’s author and queue up for a book signing. Joint owner of Paperview, Barbara Johnson said: “He was absolutely hilarious, very engaging throughout as he spent ages chatting away and telling his funny stories.
The children were all absolutely hooked as he was very animated, with lots of jumping around and funny movements.”
Guy grew up dreaming of being a superhero – he even had a Spider-Man costume and said the high point of his career was playing a happy cappuccino. Barbara invited the author to perform after he had everyone in fits of laughter during an appearance at Poulner Junior School in Ringwood.
She said: “After I saw him perform I knew we just had to organise a book reading and once again he had me in stitches.”
His most recent book is called Stitch Head: The Spider’s Lair and is about a long-forgotten, almost human creature, created by a mad professor.
