A PLASTIC radio left on a hob accidentally caused a blaze in a Three Legged Cross cottage last night.
Fire crews from Verwood and Ferndown attended the thatched property at 7pm yesterday after a call from the owner.
Two sets of breathing apparatus were used, although the fire, which caused 50 per cent smoke damage to the property, was extinguished by the time crews arrived.
A spokesperson from Dorset Fire and Rescue said the hob had been accidentally turned on when the radio was resting on it.
He added that a thermal imaging camera was deployed to ensure there were no remaining hot spots.
