PEPPA Pig perked up proceedings at the Charminster Family Fun Day on Sunday.
The appearance of the children’s favourite was just one of the highlights at the free event, held at Cyril Play Park.
Visitors were also treated to a performance by entertainer Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the Dragon, an egg and spoon race, arts and crafts and more.
Caroline Abbis, assistant community liason officer for Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “It was a really lovely day.
“The aim for us was always to create a family-friendly community event, and I hope that’s what we’ve achieved.”
There was something for everyone to enjoy on the day thanks to an appearance by the Wessex Chorus Community Choir, a bouncy castle for the young and young-at-heart, and badge decorating.
Caroline said: “It’s the fourth time we’ve put on the fun day, and it’s really grown over the years.
“Initially, we had a few stalls and we encouraged people to come along and enjoy a picnic, but as time has gone on, it’s got bigger and better. It was really nice to hear people chatting on the day – I heard comments like: ‘I’ve just seen my neighbour and I haven’t seen her in ages’, so that was lovely. It’s a great opportunity for people from Charminster and Queen’s Park to come along and see each other.”
A small committee organise the popular day each year.
“We don’t have many open green spaces in Charminster, so we always try to make the best of what we have here,” said Caroline. “I hope everyone who came along really enjoyed it.”
