POLICE are hunting a motorcyclist who fled the scene of an accident in which a car crashed into a bridge over Bournemouth’s busy Spur Road.
They say the rider of the unknown black motorbike failed to stop at the incident on Hurn Road in Matchams, on the Boundary Lane side of the road.
Now the driver and passenger of the car involved, a Nissan Micra, are calling on any witnesses to the incident on August 5 to come forward.
A man, who was a passenger in the car but did not wish to be named, said: “The motorcyclist fled the scene after we skidded and crashed into the bridge.
“We were terrified that we were going to break through it and fall into the road beneath.
“Luckily the fencing held and we bounced off. The trauma of thinking we were going over the bridge will stay with us for some time.
“We would like the motorcyclist to come forward.
“We would also like anyone who saw such a bike fleeing the scene to contact the police.”
The man and his girlfriend suffered bruising and whiplash following the collision.
They were taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said they are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 5:151.
