GRIEVING family and friends have paid tribute to their “ray of sunshine” after a Bournemouth teenager died in a crash yesterday.

Ceejay Broadhead was driving a Ford Focus when he crashed into a phone mast at Burley Road in Bransgore at 12.36am, metres from the village hall.

A joint message from the 19-year-old’s family in Southbourne, including his five siblings, said: “Ceejay was our world and we are devastated and lost that he has been snatched from us so young.

“He was more than just a brother, a son, uncle and grandson to us, his family.

“He was a ray of sunshine in everyone’s lives.

“He always lived life to the full and we will never stop grieving.

“We will miss you forever, Ceejay.”

Ceejay was a former Ringwood School pupil.

His old school friend Katie Bomphrey was among those leaving flowers at the scene yesterday.

Katie, 19, said: “He was very popular and was always there for you.

“He was the life and soul of the party.

“It’s such a great loss and everyone is going to miss him so much.”

Harriet Symms, 17, added: “I always remember being on the school bus with him.”

Among the messages at the scene was one which described Ceejay as “the sweetest” friend, who “made us smile every time you walked through the door”.

It is believed Ceejay was travelling in the direction of Winkton when the accident happened. A Hampshire Police spokesman said he lost control “for reasons yet to be established” and no other car is believed to have been involved.

The road was closed afterwards and Hampshire County Council workmen were at the scene yesterday with collision investigators.

Local residents spoke of their shock after waking to hear news of the tragedy. Edna Prince, 73, who walked past the crash scene on her way |

to pick up her grandson Oliver from the village hall, said: “It’s so sad.

“The accident happened within the 30mph speed limit. I didn’t know anything about it until the signs appeared appealing for witnesses.”

The retired secretary added: “We have lived in the village for six years and I’ve never known of another accident at this spot. “A few years ago a young cyclist lost his life at the crossroads, further down the road.”
