THIS sparkly chap has raised almost £4,000 to help save endangered animals.

The hornbill bird, named Kloo, which is Swahili for sparkle, was mosaiced by Bournemouth artist Natalie Guy as part of a special collection which was silently auctioned during The Animal Ball, hosted at Clarence House by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Kloo was one of just 20 lots which made up The Lancaster Collection, which collectively raised £500,000 for The Elephant Family and Habitat for Humanity.

Other creations were donated for auction by artists including Jack Vettriano, Matthew Williamson and Marc Quinn.

Natalie, who earlier this year mosaiced a giant fire glass heart which raised approximately £10,000 for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, was delighted to be invited as a guest at the event.

She said: “All guests were asked to wear a mask and the masks were based on endangered species and ranged from butterflies to crocodiles. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall donned a tiger and elephant mask, to the delight of the audience.

“It was a real who’s who, with a whole host of celebrities and we danced to Jools Holland and his band.”

Other guests included Jerry Hall, Cara Delevigne, Imran Khan and Nancy Dell’Olio.

Natalie was delighted with the success of her creation.

She said: “Kloo was mosaiced with iridescent blues, turquoises with Swarovski crystals on his top horn and with white studs and glass beads on his tummy to reflect the magnificent ceilings of Lancaster House.

“It’s the most sparkly mosaic I have ever created.”
