A POOLE teenager says he could have been blinded by a mystery attacker who hit in him the face with a glass bottle and punched him until he gave over his phone.
The 17-year-old, who asked not to be named, was out late on Bournemouth beach after trying to find his friend’s phone after she dropped it.
He had been with friends and when he decided to leave a youth he did not know walked towards his bike with him.
But as they reached the promenade just west of the Pier the teenager attacked him.
“Out of nowhere I felt this bottle smash my face,” he said.
“I went down onto my knees and he started hitting me in the face. He said ‘I just want your phone’.”
The victim handed over his Samsung Galaxy Mini phone.
The injured youngster made it to Durley Chine, where two Hungarian men called the police and an ambulance.
He was then taken to accident and emergency where he needed 13 stitches in his lip and had the cuts to his face cleaned up.
The attack happened at around 3am on Tuesday, August 20.
Detective Sergeant Andy Bell, of Bournemouth CID, said: “The victim has been left with a nasty injury, and has been left extremely shaken.”
The offender is described as aged 16, of stocky build, around six foot four inches tall and has short brown hair. He was wearing shorts and a dark blue jacket.
Any witnesses, or anyone with details about the offender, can call Dorset Police on 101.
