A TALENTED Bournemouth teenager has stars in his eyes after winning the prestigious South Coast singing competition, Star Sensations.

Gregory Johnson, 14, will now have the chance to release his own record on worldwide digital download supported by record label, Inspirato Music.

The St Peter’s School student took the Grand Final by storm with a catchy song he wrote and performed for the competition called I Tried My Best To Always Be There.

Co-founder of Star Sensations, Chris Daines said: “He just blew everyone away in the grand final. “It was relatively close in the heats, but he put so much work in and wrote a backing track to his own song to accompany the acoustic guitar.

“This is the first time the winner will be releasing the song they actually won the competition with.”

All of the judges are professionals within the entertainment and music industry, ranging from singers, musical directors, radio presenters and entertainment agents.

Gregory received positive feedback from the judges who said: “Gregory Johnson was a star from the moment he starting singing and playing his song.

“A very catchy tune and the crowd absolutely loved him.

“He deserved his first place and will go on to have a big future.”

More than 300 contestants entered for the Under 17s category of the singing competition which is now in its fifth year.

The Grand Final was held at the Carrington House Hotel on Saturday July 20 and 16 talented youngsters battled it out for the top prize.

Gregory has been song writing for 18 months and he has performed at local events, including the Family Festival in Meyrick Park and at Muscliffe Park.
